A post from Beyond

Hi all; Well been away from home since my last post.  I have travelled over 3900kms and been to see a specialist in Ballarat.  I have had my car in for long awaited repairs that I could not get sorted at home, and I get to pick it up tomorrow. More importantly I havent killed mum, though I have been close.  I hope if I get paid early next week to head home to see my boys and my partner on Wednesday.  Hopefully with a car that is running on song and will be enjoyable to drive. In all should be a good week if I get paid on time if not... I will get grumpy and blast the client in only the way I know how lol. Hope your all doing well, mentally im ok but very very tired.  Been sleeping badly at night here not sure why, but I cant wait to get into my own bed. Catch u all later Horse

I leave in the morning.

Well I leave at 6.00am I am as packed as I can get for now.  Nervous doesnt cut it to be honest. It will be good im sure, couple of days away from this house and everything I love, but I need the break more than I am probably going to admit while online, im sure the kms will glide by as I process my life for the past 12 months. I trust my car and my driving so wish me luck all.  I will blog along the way let you know where I am.  I look at this as the first day of a step towards dealing with my physcial health issues. See u all later

How I have been

Image
Hi reader; I intimated a few posts ago about the health issues I am now facing as I age, and the drugs start to wear on my body.  My weight doesnt help issues but considering the affects of the medications and the lack of motivation I have had I think I am doing pretty well.  On top of that so does the doctor he seems to think, that considering im doing fairly well. I am finally getting the major health issues caused by my sinus passages and nasal cavity seen to.  I have continual bad infections in those areas the material from that infection runs down my throat and causes very very bad infections in my throat.  In the past 12 months I have been on medication for the infection 9 times, all anti-biotic combinations of very very strong medications.  They make it go away for a week or so then its a downard spiral into being unwell and endless coughing. I was coughing so hard at one point that my stomach and rib muscles would cramp up.  I often cou...

Recollections dieting is hard work

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I have not had a great 3 days on the diet, have eaten each day and have actually gained some weight.  Yes heaven forbid.  But there are some real reasons which I have realized while driving to pick my partner up from the clubs at nearly 4.00am. I have noticed that if I don't get enough sleep I seem to not loose weight but worse consecutive days of no sleep I seem to gain weight.  Last night I only managed about 5 hours sleep the night before 6, and tonight isn't looking much better. Im not sure there is much science to all of this, but I know I always flush more fluid from my body after a good sleep, normally busting to go when I wake up.  If I don't get enough sleep I don't need to go when I wake up.  Like I said, Im not sure there is any real science to it, but its an observation I have made about myself. I have been seriously beating myself up over the lack of weight loss and the gain but its l...

Another Concord Moment

Well I am pretty sure I will never see two Holden Kingswoods side by side in a workshop ever again.  When I was 18 and first got my licence a Holden Kingswood Premier with a 4.2ltr V8 was the car everyone wanted to own.  These days however they are relics of a bygone era.  My mate Greg had both these cars in the workshop today, both being restored as cruise cars.  I highly doubt I will ever see two of them in a workshop again in my life, as they become rarer by the year. Each year that passes cars that I remembered as brand new during my childhood disappear from the roads forever.  I think sometimes its one of the hardest things about growing up, seeing the cars you had on posters on your wall vanishing forever. You will note the second car is but a shell, its being restored and a LS1 and automatic gearbox will be installed.  The owner is hoping it to be ready for his wedding in July.  They would want to get their f...

This is a greater saga than days of our lives.

An update of sorts.  As you all know there have been issues with the car of late, and that we have been replacing some very expensive bits trying to get it sorted. Well Friday lunch time took the poorly running car over to the mechanics to replace the Alternator that I ordered brand new from the UK the week before.  He tells me before I get there that I should be able to do the work on my own..  Turns out there isn't a chance in hell I could have lol.  We had some major drama's getting it fitted, but its in and has cleared one set of faults.  We also fitted the washer motor that hasn't worked since I got the car. It wasn't a total loss the alternator was bad and causing issues, but its not the reason for the stalling and poor running.  We now heavily suspect that it will be the fuel pump.  We would have checked the fuel pressure on Friday had the apprentice not destroyed the tester a couple weeks ag...

Car update

Hi guys.  Just an update the car is no closer to being fixed at the moment.  I am doing as much of the diagnosis of car issues as I can with the help of some online forums.  We have eliminated, a lot of things and are marching down the road to a solution.  Im dealing ok with it. As i mentioned a couple of posts ago I am dealing really well with this so far, thanks a lot to the valdoxan and and attitude that I am learning the car by doing all of the work.  And yes I have learnt a lot about my car over the past week or so.  If all else fails it goes to the dealer for diagnostics on the 3rd of next month.  I am hoping to have it sorted before then.  If not when they work out the issue I will have an answer and will have learnt something more. Unlike Mr Flimsy cups car problems for me are a chance to learn something new.  With all the electronics in the car there is plenty to learn thats for sure.  Modern cars are sensitive beings who li...

So the world turns

Image
Firstly let me say I feel much better today, had a very long "im sick" sleep today and feel much better both  lumps are quite small now. Now this will be rambling, and I hope coherent, so your fore warned. As most of you know cars and anything with a motor gets me excited, but more than that it has been a life long obsession.  In Australia currently there are two car manufacturers Ford Australia and General Motors Holden.  Both have been manufacturing cars here since the 1930's.  And done quite well out of it as well. But times have changed.  Competition from overseas car companies from Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia, and to a smaller extent Europe and the USA, have hammered their old markets.  Both car manufacturers post huge first 1/4 losses this year, and both are calling for government handouts to continue production here. Now this is an interesting time, with both manufacturers not guaranteeing an Australian built f...

It happens tomorrow

Image
Well readers it finally happens tomorrow, the car (P.O.S) is getting its 100,000 km service tomorrow.  I think I did well, my first quote for the work was $1800.00 and Im now only paying $700.00 amazing what happens when you chat to friends.  The place its going is new clean and they have all the tech equip you would expect. From my point of view its the beginning of an end.  I never really wanted this car, and as those who have read my site will tell you, it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing since I got it.  Angry upset and frustrated are words I would use to describe my experiences.  Once this is done I can put it on the market again and get rid of it. After its gone I can follow my heart and get another V8, yes I know they are expensive to run and maintain, yes they are expensive to insure and register.  But for the first time in 7 years I wont be driving a compromise.  My partner and I have been watching the car sales sites an...

O Fortuna Excalibur Remix

Image
Hi all, Well today is about music and insane things that i have done in the past and I would do again in a heartbeat.  As I have stated in other posts I have owned some serious muscle when it comes to cars. Don't be fooled into thinking I didn't know how to drive them.  Far from it in fact, had professional race driving instruction and did test driving for a Ford Mustang race team.  I certainly know how to handle horsepower.  Most people drive cars by what the gauges tell you they are happy to cruise along quietly. For me its more than that, I become apart of the car as my concentration levels lift, I feel everything, every bump every vibration.  I come alive.  There is nothing quite like driving through each gear with the foot flat to the floor.  Flat changing with no lift off at all, to put a car onto 2 wheels with the harness biting at your body. You are literally on the edge .  The  heat the noise the smells, its a fantastic place t...

Changing Cars

Image
Not the most in depth post ever but, considering I try to do this often. I do know quite a bit about it. I have owned a lot of cars in my life but have loved very few of them.  Two cars stand out for me but for two completely different reasons. First of the stand outs was a Ford AUIII TS50 Tickford Falcon.   I got this brand new and in black,  It was an amazing car, so damn quick it make your head snap back and forward as you went from braking to acceleration.  5.7Ltr Injected V8 last of the Windsor engines in Australia.  I loved it, you really had a road presence, overtaking could be terrifying should you plant the right foot to hard.  From 80Kms/hr to 140Kims/hr was done in under a car length.  With the manualised automatic it was something to be feared.  I had owned a HSV before hand and it was a complete bucket of crud in comparison.  The Ford ate it in every important category.  Had quite a few mates who were Holden fans th...
