Image
Queen at their very best; The movie that this was played in Other Queen Song From the Movie Trailer Lyrics for both songs QUEEN Who Wants To Live Forever Lyrics There's no time for us There's no place for us What is this thing that builds our dreams Yet slips away from us... Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever.....? There's no chance for us It's all been decided for us This world has only one sweet moment Set aside for us Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever.....? Who dares to love forever When love must die? But touch my tears with your lips Touch my world with your fingertips And we can't have forever And we can't love forever Forever is our today Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever? Forever is our today Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever? Forever is our today Who waits forever anyway...    Princes of the Universe Here we are, born to ...

Where I live

Image
I have just come in from watching the documentary series Coast.  The current series is about Australia, and they just had an episode of my favorite part of the country. Now I know it is normal to look at ones own country with pride we all do it.  But I think somehow Australia is different an environment baked in the hot southern sun for a million years.  Its an Island a Country and a Continent, that in itself is unique.  I am lucky I have seen great swathes of this country I have been to its dead heart, and to its western and eastern borders.  I have seen the sky touch the horizon and so many stars it would take a life time to count them all.  Its remote and increadibly beautiful, and at the same time modern and complex.  Australia my home is an amazing place. I have been into the heart of this country a few times now, and one thing that always strikes me is how timeless it all is.  If I was to die out there even a monument to my passing w...

Hate and what we teach the young.

Image
Yeah yeah I can hear you all sighing now.  I have spoken about Hate before and how its not acceptable to teach it to our young.  Yet I am sure there is not one of you out there, that in some form or another teach hate to others around you.  Yes that is a big call from me but please let me explain. Hate in itself is insidious, it reaches into every part of our lives, every day we repeat or see something that is hateful.  Not intentionally, in fact quite often its not intentional and the people sprouting the hate don't understand that they are in fact doing harm.  I'm guilty of it, I have often said things about different people races, creeds etc that are generalizations that are hateful in intent.  I caught myself today calling a Muslim woman a terrorist when she walked out in front of me while I was driving.  Not a nice thing to say, what made it worse was the three children she had with her. I sprouted the hatred that has gro...

Gloabl sit ins

If you searched this post then you know I am talking about the global phenomena, of sitting in against corporate and government greed.  This movement seems to have galvanized the disenfranchised from all walks of life.  They call themselves the 99%, and I somewhat  agree with them. Most Australians say nothing, they wont protest they wont act to make a noise, the only time you see them unhappy is when they vote.  The vote is the outlet for peoples displeasure with the world. Now in any other time in Australian history the change by voting would make a sea change in ideas.  That is not the case today, both sides aim for the middle and we the voting public are left with no real choice.  With company profits soaring, governments seen is inept at taping that wealth for the nation, more and more people are feeling left behind. There is also an underlying anger that mining companies such as BHP Biliton make ...

Ten years today

Well its that day we wont forget.  Me like millions of others today will post about the events of September 11.  Me personally, I lit a candle and said prayers this morning that those who we lost that day and since in the war on terror.  I prayed for guidance, for clarity and common sense. The world in general changed this day 10 years ago in a way that we could not have imagined.  The old world order collapsed and a time of insecurity and fear started.  I was reading Boundless Salvation which called for open dialogue between all the faiths for calling out of those who use religion as an excuse for violence.  I in part agree, but I don't think we will be able to see this in my lifetime.  While there is such grave injustice between the haves and have not's in the world, and while dictators steal from their people, the west and all it has will be seen as evil and something to destroy.  A reason for their misery.  Add to this that some religi...

September 11 Not a Tribute

Image
This unlike thousands and thousands of blog posts is not a tribute to those that were lost on that day but more of a reflection of what has happened since and how our worlds changed forever. This month Discovery Channel have been running a series of programs as September 11 draws closer and 10 years have passed.  I remember like millions of others watching the whole thing live on BBC World, I remember the horror as the second plane flew into the towers.  I remember thinking oh my god please let them get out. Even today nearly ten years on I cant watch documentaries that show any images of that day, I simply burst into tears, in fact even writing about it now is upsetting.  In those short hours our worlds changed for ever, our feeling of safety removed.  I was interstate on September 11 the following day I attended half a dozen meetings and it was all surreal, no one wanted to work, we were in a state of shock.  One of the meetings that day was in North Syd...

Terrorists and Pakistan

Image
Of interest today has been Pakistan's continued assault on Taliban positions in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, their sudden willingness this year to take on this powerful religious group, and religious fundamentalists, seems to have come after a visit by Hillary Clinton. One wonders if Pakistan understood what a threat to its own security these people were, just weeks before the first offensive the government had done a deal with these extremists giving them a self governed region not 100 kms from the capital. The news report this evening on SBS world news, stated that the Pakistan army was moving well against the enemy forces taking a key town, and forcing the leaders higher into the mountains. They also stated that Taliban fighters were deserting and blending in with the local population fleeing the war zone. If the report is true and they are leaving maybe it means that they realize the fight is over for them. Only by securing these remote mountain areas on the borde...
