Why pissing me off is a bad bad thing

Well where to damn well start. For my 40th you all know that I installed a fairly decent stereo upgrade for my car.  In all the install went well till we found that I had a dead RCA out on the back of the unit.  Now not much I could have done to cause the issue, it was a DOA.   Now Eonon the manufacturer offered to repair the unit if I paid $20.00 to return the unit.  I initially agreed. However later that same week Eonon released the M1 head unit.  I was interested in it and since my head unit was DOA I asked if for a fee I could upgrade. That was 8 weeks ago, and until today I have had nothing back.  They was $87.00 in postage, they are taking 25% depreciation off my head unit which they will keep.  So in all I am out of pocket $534.00 including the loss of my original head unit.  A brand new M1 including shipping is only $414.00. So if I took the original offer and paid $20.00 to return the original head unit for repair then spent the $...

Last couple of weeks.

Hi all; You probably all noticed my absence yes it happened again, I vanished into the great interwebs.  No but really, I have been busy getting things done.  We were going away today to the southern states, but a few things have changed and we wont be going.  Both my partner and I have trips to Brisbane in the next two months for school and that realistically will be the end of any journey we wanted to take for pleasure. But I have been busy installing the 40th birthday present as each group of parts arrived, had a couple of hiccups, I blew one amp to kingdom come, it was nearly on fire by the time I cut the power.  This afternoon I finally got everything hooked up and running, have front and rear running even if it is a little unbalanced.  The head unit has an issue with left RCA output, ie there is none, so working with the supplier to work out a solution. To be honest with you all I am proud of this achievement, its tidy and done properly, all wires ar...

Its bloody confusing is what it is.

Hey all, well have started the final purchasing for the stereo upgrade in the car.  Getting speakers, sizes, power and amplifiers is nothing short of a nightmare. Doesn't help that we have two ways of rating speaker power, and that I am heavily restricted to a small 5 1/4 inch front speakers as there is simply no way to put a larger one in.  The OEM speakers were hopeless and the back ones still are. I think im getting closer to a solution now with a custom built parcel shelf, thinking of putting in two 6x9 inch 1000w speakers and a set of 6.5inch three way 500w speakers.  Using a 4 way amp to run the front speakers and the 6x9 speakers and then use a split and a 2 way speaker to run the 6 1/4's. The fronts I think I have finally settled on a set of 5 1/4 in three ways 200 watt.  If they turn out to be a loss I will look at upgrading them to a 6 inch somehow,.  My primary issue is the mounting point in the front door does not allow for a smooth i...

Car Audio

As mentioned a couple posts back my partner purchased a Renault Scenic.  To be honest a great car, neat tidy and gets up and goes.  One big issue with the car is the audio system in it just sucked.  About 3 weeks after getting the car, I fitted a new head unit for it.  I didn't solder the connections primarily because I knew at some point in the new future that new speakers amplifier etc would be added to the car.  So I used the exisitng wiring and hooked up the 4 exisitng speakers... To say the sound output was pathetic doesn't cut it.  These 5.25 inch splits in the front and 5.25 inch two ways in the back were hopeless. The stereo had way to much power for them.  They were a small magnet paper cone variety that car manufactures thought were a good idea.  Anyway after several months my partner orderd some new 5.25 splits for the front,  Up specked the speaker cables ran them to the front doors, created solder joints for all the power light...
