Islam, and those who act in its name.
Im sure by now everyone has seen the horrible events in the UK, and right now normally I would launch into some rant about religion etc. But this is slightly different and let me explain why.
Firstly it wasn't an act designed to kill many. It wasn't a bomb, it wasn't an attack with an assault rifle. They didn't run away and hide after the act.
It was a single act of terror, simple and blunt, to strike terror into every day people. I take solace in the fact that, they were forced to use knives, the most simple of all possible weapons. Now to be honest, that may have been their only idea, but im sure if they had access to anything more violent they would have used it. This proves a point that the people protecting us are doing a very good job.
There will always be random acts of violence designed to make people frightened, unfortunately at this time in history most of the people doing these things are radical Islamist fundamentalist. They believe that the whole world needs to be converted to Islam and that everyone who doesn't convert should be killed. Blunt but simple.
Until moderates stand up and crush these ideas before they happen, we will be experiencing attacks for decades.
I will finish this blog post with an argument a friend made to me a couple of nights ago, before this event. He said "You know what? We in the west need to teach these countries who don't act to stop terror a lesson. The USA is the only country on earth who has used a nuclear bomb in anger, and it scared a lot of nations to tow the line. We should make an example of Iran. Turn the whole country into glass, then go on the news and say you attack us in our homes and we will bomb you into heaven."
I will state this person is normally very moderate, but he like the rest of us are getting worried our proportionate responses are not getting through.
