Is anything Possible

Interesting question  hey.  What do you believe, do you believe it in its true meaning that anything is possible and I mean anything.  Or do you subscribe that there will always be some limitation to how much we as humans can do.

My response to this question as per usual is not as straight forward as it sounds.  You see I need to tie another concept to this and that is one of destiny.  I believe that anything is possible anything can happen if its destined to be so.  Now I know that sounds like a cop out but its not.  You see great men have achieved the impossible but it was their destiny to do so.

Winston with his V for Victory Salute. Cigar in mouth of course
The Prime example was an old man, who smoked cigars and drank to much, never even looked like he was destined to power.  I  am of course talking about Winston Churchill.  He was a man of destiny, everything in his past lead him to that point.  Then he did the impossible, he retrieved all those men from Dunkirk, and fought on alone against the nazis.  He watched as his nations airmen were killed in the defence of the country and the free world. He spent a night in the air ministry during the battle of Britain, his driver wrote that the following morning Churchill left with his head down and his shoulders hunched. He reportedly cried at the sacrifice he had just witnessed .  He was so moved that he penned one of the most famous speeches in history

He had the ability to come up with amazing speeches, right at the right time, and spoke in a way that everyone understood, he made the mantra that anything was possible, a reality.  Britain stood alone and eventually joined all free forces in the taking of Europe.

So my point is yes anything is possible if it is your destiny to do it.  Not all of us are destined to be great or extraordinary men, but we can always live by the mantra that nothing is impossible.  Imagine the world we could create if we did. My dream is for a world where everyone is treated as an equal, where everyone has brilliant governance and the freedom  of speech is not only protected but encouraged and where everyone can live in peace and harmony with no threats of war.  I think anything is possible for the right person

  1. Churchill was definitely the man for the hour.

Of course, if you're familiar with his younger years...it's easier to think of him as leading a nation through a time of crisis.

  2. He was the youngest lord of the admiralty, and oversaw the disaster at the Dardanelles, and then Gallipolie, in which ANZAC troops went ashore with a terrible loss of life.

He had lots of other experiences during his life all of which came to bear once he became PM. It was almost if he was hand picked for the job. Made more amazing by the fact he was most likely Bipolar. He often wrote about the black dog. Remarkable individual who shone during the darkest hours.
